Joe Blow & Sister Crazy

I'm getting tired
of waiting
for the lord to take it all
I'm getting tired
of inflation
as if it's okay
while still trying to make a buck
the old fashioned way
working my ass off
I'm way past tired
of people being rude
to each other
and to themselves
and driving like assholes
--what's up with that?
is it cool to cut someone off
on the highway
or go completely mental
if someone happens to
accidentally
cut you off?
I feel like I've taken
a box of sleeping pills
when I think of
the decline of manners
in customer service
and the absolute plummet of
skilled craftsmanship
more work going into
making a product breakable
by the projected date
of the item's end warranty …
we're not doing anybody
a favor
lining our pockets
with illusions
I don't know anybody
that's rich
and not evil
rich
and not miserable
how about just taking care
of you
and yours
and trying to lend a helping
hand
by just being nice
to joe blow and sister crazy
when you meet
and they're the ones
noble enough
to hand you your French fries.
